Skin Peels
Chemical peels and your skin
Chemical peels can improve the skin's appearance by chemically exfoliating the outermost, most damaged layers of skin.
We offer multiple peels, both OTC home peels from our store, and strictly in-clinic higher strength peels. These are most often performed on the face, hands and feet.
The pH level and size of the molecular structure of the various peels will determine what depth of the dermis is targeted, and what beneficial effects are gained from the procedure. For example oily acne prone skin will require a different chemical compound to sun damaged skin. The deeper the peel, the greater the results. However more aggressive peels also result in longer downtime.
We will assess your skin type and skin problem first before tailoring an appropriate peel solution for you.
We offer in-clinic peels from leading professional brands such as Skin Tech and NeoStrata. Popular peeling agents include AHA / alpha-hydroxy acid (citric, glycolic, lactic, mandelic and more), beta-hydroxy acid (salicylic), retinoic, TCA and phytic, as well as many hybrid compositions.
The most common types of disorders treated with chemical peels at Durban Cosmetic Laser Centre are
• pigment disorders such as melasma (dark spots), freckles, liver spots
• inflammation disorders such as acne and rosacea
• scarring from acne, chicken pox, surgery or trauma
• aged skin, including fine wrinkles, poor laxity, and photoaged (sun damaged) skin
• lesions such as actinic keratoses
Chemical peels cannot eliminate deep scars or wrinkles. For these, please see our other skin rejuvenation therapies. All of our peels can be combined with other aesthetic skin improvement techniques at Durban Cosmetic Laser Centre, such as laser skin resurfacing, collagen induction therapy and IPL.
