Laser hair removal
Our state-of-the art Lumenis LightSheer® Duet is an 800nm diode laser. It comes with two head sizes. The ET hand piece is for small, focussed bony areas, and the HS handset is for fast and painless treatment of larger areas. The HS handset uses vacuum-assist technology, which enhances light absorption for greater effectiveness. It has an ultra-large spot size of 22×35 mm, making it incredibly fast and efficient. No gel or anaesthetic is required during the treatment. Laser hair removal is suitable for the face (upper lip, sideburns, chin/beard), underarms, legs, back, bikini line, pubic area, neck, stomach, navel, buttocks, chest, or any area where pigmented hair grows.
IPL hair removal
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is technically not a laser as it uses a broad-spectrum light source (515-1200nm) with interchangeable filters. Advanced IPL systems like our Nordlys Ellipse SWT can be adjusted to suit different skin tones, reducing the risk of side effects and improving efficacy
For blonde, red, grey or fine vellus hair, both IPL and laser are less effective than on darker hair. However if the machine can target at least some pigment, they can have some benefit. If not, electrolysis uses a different method of permanent hair removal that does not rely on hair pigmentation.
Electrolysis
Finally for particularly stubborn hair that lacks pigment and does not respond to the laser, or for areas that require absolute precision, Durban Cosmetic Laser Centre also offers electrolysis. We are a one-stop shop for all your hair removal needs.
