Advanced Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing.
- Fractional laser applied flush to the skin
- Laser light penetrates top skin layers
- Light energy stimulates collagen, and resurfaces the top skin layer
- Natural rejuvenation process smoothes wrinkles & scars by stimulating collagen
Fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment is effective for treating a wide variety of skin problems: the lines and wrinkles that happen with ageing, scars, pigmentation, sun damage and actinic keratosis. Unlike CO2 lasers – which target a large surface area at once – fractional lasers repair and resurface a predetermined percentage of your skin, leaving normal, healthy skin in between the ablated areas. This allows for more rapid healing and lower risk.
Popular fractional laser treatments at Durban Cosmetic Laser Centre include crow’s feet, sun-damaged skin, scars left from acne or chicken pox, stretch marks, and ageing spots. Just about any condition that will benefit from the renewal of skin is a candidate for our fractional laser resurfacing.

Your Personalised Frax 1550 Treatment Plan
Your skin is unique – your genetic makeup, lifestyle, and personal history all influence how your skin looks and feels. With our treatment, we’ll create a plan tailored to your skin’s individual needs.
The Frax 1550 laser can be set to target between 5% and 50% of the skin’s surface area in a single pass. The remaining percentage remains untouched, so only a portion of your skin needs to heal after each treatment.
You can expect two levels of results:
1) Immediate: Once initial healing is complete, your skin will feel softer, look brighter, and have a more even
2) Progressive: Over the next three to six months, the deeper layers of skin continue to heal and renew.
Depending on your skin, you can choose how to achieve the remarkable results Frax 1550 offers:
1) Aggressive treatments: Fewer sessions, more dramatic results, and several days of social downtime.
2) Gentler treatments: More sessions, milder side effects, and minimal disruption.
Less aggressive treatments accomplish the same results, with a few more treatment sessions and less pronounced side effects. For some types of skin and skin conditions, gentle and/or fewer treatments are best.
What are the benefits of Frax 1550 treatment?
- smoother, fresher looking skin
- improved tone and texture
- reduced wrinkles around the eyes
- Improved appearance of acne and surgical scars
Does The Treatment hurt?
Topical anaesthesia is applied before the procedure, and cold air is used during treatment to minimise discomfort. The Frax 1550 also features SoftCool™ technology, which delivers a focused stream of cool air for comfort during and after treatment.
What side effects can I expect after treatment and how long will they last?
You may experience redness and swelling. The intensity and duration depend on the treatment’s aggressiveness and your skin’s healing response. Other temporary side effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and a bronzed skin appearance.
New epidermal skin develops immediately, within 24 hours. This process of skin repair involves:
- Bronzing: your skin will have a bronze appearance for three to 14 days, depending on the treatment level.
- Natural exfoliation occurs as dead skin is replaced. This resembles a minor sunburn without pain. Use moisturiser to mask flaking.
You will receive specific aftercare instructions tailored to your treatment.
What precautions should I take after treatment?
Avoid direct sun exposure for at least three months after your final session. Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and wear wide-brimmed hats when outdoors.
How long do the effects of Fraxel treatment last?
It depends on your skin condition and how well you maintain your results. the skin typically continues to repair itself and produce new collagen for about 3 to 6 months after the session. Once your skin is renewed, keep protecting it as advised. For conditions like melasma, strict sun avoidance is especially important.
